A Beginner’s Guide to Nails
by Stephanie
When the only tool you have is a file, everything looks like a nail.
Beautiful, healthy, well-manicured nails are one of the most attractive features of your hands. Add a hint of colour, a bit of shine or an outright in-your-face blast of brilliant gloss and your hands will magically become beautiful, soft and feminine.
Uh-huh. Reading too much trashy TV fiction again, have we?
Like most things about crossdressing, doing nails properly takes time. Learning how is not difficult; it requires observation, the proper tools and materials and some time invested in practice and a daily regimen of nail care.
Before we move on, I’d like to acknowledge the contributions of several people: Dawn, who did my first set of nails; Joy, who wrote an excellent article in the Cornbury News; Cilla, who taught me the fine art of polishing; and Charlene, who introduced me to buffing.
In this article we’ll show you the basics of nail care, simple buffing and polishing techniques and some fancy effects you can do at home. We’ll finish up with some information on false nails and salon nails.
This article is in several sections for more manageable reading. Use the links below to get around.
